Nancy Defines Mental Health

Good Mental Health is much more than the absence of mental illness or distressing symptoms.

Growing good mental health: Mental Health is your daily practice and ability to meet your basic needs for safety and security; love and  belonging; fun, laughter and learning; power, influence and meaningful contributions; by making responsible choices.  This results in a vibrant, joyful life. When there is an upset, disturbance or challenge, such as COVID 19, you accept the experience, including all the accompanying negative emotions, knowing you have abilities, and strategies to regularly and effectively meet your needs, even in the face of the adversity. You know your ability to resiliently rebound from these upsets will restore your original joyful set point. This upset is likely to provide you with greater wisdom and meaningful learning because of the experience.
